Does your respirator program include training, respirator selection, medical evaluation, and fit testing? When was the last review done and updates made to your program?
This class is designed to review and explain the OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard (1910.134), along with several new respiratory updates. Special attention will be paid to implementing a successful program. The key elements of a respirator program will be reviewed. You will learn a practical approach to designing a program and have an opportunity to review/critique one such program.
In addition, fit testing will be presented and you will have the opportunity to participate in a fit testing laboratory.
At the end of this class, you will be able to:
- Identify when, and for what reasons, an organization is required to have a respiratory protection program
- Describe the elements of a respiratory protection program
- List qualitative and quantitative fit tests and discuss advantages and disadvantages of each
- Perform qualitative fits tests in accordance with acceptable protocols
- Explain criteria for cartridge and filter selection and cartridge change schedules
